“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce." - Karl Lagerfeld. Photography is all about grabbing a moment. The thing being photographed stays the same, but catching that particular moment, like a pretend charge by an elephant, the happiness of a new baby in the family, or just the bits of everyday life, like Vivian Maier did, is special because it won't happen again. I dream of catching such unique moments in nature, like a big lion yawning or little lion cubs playing, monkeys turning on a water tap to drink, or a crocodile chilling out.
What makes taking photos fun for me is the different ways you can approach that "perfect photo"—it could be finding the perfect light on the thing you are photographing or choosing a different angle or expression. After trying many times, you might get a close shot at the "perfect photo," and even then, it is limited by how you see things and how determined you are to find that perfect moment. I like showing my way of seeing things to people, and I have been able to do that on my short and exciting journey so far. As Paulo Coelho says, "Life is a journey. How we travel is really up to us. We can just go with the flow or follow our own dreams."
